Scheduling

Please contact the office by phone (508) 366.2020, fax (508) 366.2700 or through email (info@awcenter.com) to schedule an appointment. Scheduling an initial consultation requires credit card confirmation. A cancellation fee of $100 is charged if you do not arrive for the consultation or cancel within 24 hours of the appointment. Every effort is made to remind you of your appointment.

What to Expect During Your Consultation

The initial consultation with Dr. Ahn is meant to be an educational session. Any questions or concerns are answered in easy-to-understand, non-medical terms by Dr. Ahn. During the 30-minute session, digital photography and computer imaging are used to demonstrate the potential effects of various treatments. Dr. Ahn believes that the role of the doctor is to educate the patient, following the Latin root docere, “to teach.” An educated patient is better able to make a decision and has a more satisfying outcome. Ultimately, unlike other plastic surgeons’ offices, we are not just trying to book the next patient. We are trying to establish a long-lasting relationship built on trust and excellent outcomes.

Please expect to spend approximately 1 hour in the office for your consultation. Before your consultation is helpful so that you may fill out necessary paperwork.

Our practice has grown because of our patients' kind referrals. In fact, our best patients are referred by people like you. We encourage you to recommend our office to your family and friends. We always have time to care for a new patient.

If your doctor has referred you, he or she will promptly receive a letter outlining our findings and the course of treatment. We encourage you to return to your referring doctor after our specialized care is complete.

Privacy and Discretion

Understanding the need for discretion and privacy, we strictly follow all rules of patient-doctor confidentiality and federal standards for privacy under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996). We also ask that you show discretion and refrain from discussing other clients during your visit to The Aesthetic Wellness Center. As a courtesy to other clients in the office, we ask that you refrain from cell phone use and turn off all phones upon entering The Aesthetic Wellness Center.

To address the "small community" issues inherent to living in Massachusetts, the office has a discreet doorway, in addition to the main entrance. This is particularly helpful for those who have recently undergone a treatment or procedure. For further information please contact our staff.

Drugs and Supplements to Avoid Before Surgery

Many drugs either contain aspirin or a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. Therefore they may cause postoperative problems with abnormal bleeding and bruising. Commonly sold preparations include Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, aspirin, Alka-Seltzer and Alleve. Common herbal medications that can also promote abnormal bleeding include Echinacea, Fish Oil Caps, Ginkgo Biloba and Vitamin E. This is not a comprehensive list, so please ask Dr. Ahn or his staff if you have any questions regarding medications acceptable before surgery.

• The above-mentioned medications should be avoided for at least two weeks prior to surgery and for two weeks after.
• If you need to take something for the relief of minor pain you may take Tylenol, or another acetaminophen-containing product.
• If you are taking any steroid or medication for arthritis please let Dr. Ahn or his staff know before surgery.
• It is very important that you let Dr. Ahn or his staff know if you are currently taking any of these medications.
