Spider Veins

Anyone interested in improving the appearance of spider veins may be a good candidate for treatment with laser surgery. The procedure is performed in the office setting and both you and your practitioner will wear safety eyewear to protect against the laser light. During treatment, the laser is applied to the skin in pulses, allowing a beam of high-intensity light to penetrate deep into the skin tissue and target the spider veins. Patients may experience mild discomfort similar to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. The treatment can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to complete depending on the area being treated.

Immediately after treatment, a cool compress or gel pack may be applied to maximize your comfort. Redness or swelling may occur but typically fades within a few hours. Patients will need to avoid sun exposure for a period of time after treatment. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

Acne Scarring

Laser treatment of acne scarring is typically performed in the office setting. Both you and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear. A small hand piece will be used to deliver laser pulses to the skin. During treatment, patients may experience some mild discomfort akin to a rubber band snapping against the skin. If necessary, topical anesthesia can be used. The procedure may last anywhere from five to fifteen minutes depending on the size of the treatment area.

After laser treatment of acne scarring, patients may experience some mild redness that will fade within about one day. Patients may also experience some tenderness. Most normal activities can be resumed right away, though patients will need to avoid sun exposure for a period of time after treatment. In order to achieve the desired results, multiple treatments are usually necessary.

Rosacea

Laser treatment of rosacea is performed in the office setting where both the patient and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear. During the treatment, the laser energy is applied to the skin where it selectively destroys the blood vessels of rosacea while protecting the surrounding skin. During treatment, patients may experience some mild discomfort which many describe as being similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. If necessary, a topical anesthetic may be used.

Brown Spots

During the laser treatment for brown spots, the laser is applied to the skin and generates an intense beam of light that targets the discoloration. Both you and the practitioner will wear special protective eyewear during the treatment to protect the eyes from the laser light. A warming or tingling sensation may be felt during treatment. While not required, some type of anesthetic may be used if desired.

After treatment, some redness or minor swelling may occur. This typically fades within a few hours. On rare occasions, a laser bruise may occur that fades within about three to five days. Patients typically see positive results immediately after treatment. Sun exposure will need to be avoided for a period of time.

Sun damaged dcollet (upper chest)

During treatment for a sun damaged upper chest, both patient and practitioner will wear protective eyewear to protect the eyes from the laser light. The hand piece delivers intense yet gentle bursts of light into the targeted area on the skin. A slight warming or tingling sensation may be felt during treatment and, if necessary, an anesthetic can be used. Most patients notice immediate results, though some mild swelling and redness may be present for several hours afterward. Patients will need to avoid sun exposure for a period of time after treatment.
