Corrective Facial Peel FAQs

Q-What is a facial peel?
A-Facial peels are treatments used to improve a variety of skin blemishes including fine lines, large or clogged pores, age- and sun-damaged skin, acne, and scars. Facial peels can improve skin texture, tone, color and collagen formation, rejuvenating the skin and providing a smoother and healthier appearance. There are a variety of facial peels available include the Illuminize Peel/Refinity Peel and the Vitalize Peel.

Q-Who is a candidate for a facial peel?
A-Individuals looking to improve age- or sun-damaged skin, acne, scars, enlarged pores or other skin blemishes may be candidates for a facial peel.

Q-What is the Illuminize Peel ?
A-This non-invasive very superficial Peel utilizes a novel approach to chemical peeling with a newer generation of alpha-hydroxy acids (Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid) in combination with Phytic Acid and commonly used peeling agents (Salicylic Acid and Resorcinol) to maximize skin rejuvenating effects with low irritation. There is little to no visible peeling with this particular peel, leaving you with hardly any downtime.

Q-What is the Vitalize Peel?
A-At the Aesthetic Wellness Center, we offer two types of Vitalize Peels, the Vitalize Peel for Age Management and the Vitalize Peel for Acne. The Vitalize Peel for Age Management is a deeper penetrating treatment that can take the skin to the next level of revitalization by improving skin texture and color, collagen formation and visible sun damage. The Vitalize Peel for Acne utilizes a breakthrough formulation which targets acne breakouts, clogged pores and superficial scars while promoting healing for healthier and smoother looking skin.

Q-What will happen during the consultation for a facial peel?
A-During your consultation for a facial peel, our aestheticans will discuss the available treatment options including the different types of peels, the benefits, and the expected outcomes. They will help you to make an informed decision by educating you about the treatment and answering any questions or concerns that you may have. Before pictures will be taken so you can see the difference in your skin after you complete your series of peels.

Q-How is the facial peel performed?
A-After cleansing the skin of the treatment area, the facial peel solution is applied. It will be left on the skin for a specified period of time and then removed.

Q-Do patients experience much pain from the facial peel?
A-Depending on the strength of the facial peel, patients may experience a slight, brief stinging sensation during application.

Q-What sort of recovery is there after a facial peel?
A-The recovery after a facial peel will depend on the strength of the particular peel that is used. Milder peels typically involve little recovery or downtime while stronger peels may require some downtime. Some stinging, redness and irritation can occur after treatment along with temporary flaking or scaling of the skin. Patients may be required to avoid sun exposure for a period of time.
